One-Step Realization of Crystallization and Cyano-Group Generation for g-C3N4 Photocatalysts with Improved H2 Production

Huogen Yu et al.

Summary: The ordered crystallization and cyano-group generation in g-C(3)N(4) photocatalyst was achieved through a one-step Na2CO3-assisted synthesis approach, leading to significantly improved hydrogen production activity. The synergistic effect of highly crystalline structure and cyano-groups contributed to the enhanced activity of cyano-group-modified crystalline g-C(3)N(4). This technology provides insights for the preparation of other crystalline photocatalysts.

Improved Rate for the Oxygen Reduction Reaction in a Sulfuric Acid Electrolyte using a Pt(111) Surface Modified with Melamine

Milena Zorko et al.

Summary: The development of efficient, stable, and selective oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) electrocatalysts is crucial for the commercialization of alkaline, phosphoric acid, and polymer electrolyte membrane fuel cells. By adsorbing melamine onto the Pt(111) surface, researchers were able to significantly increase the ORR activity while selectively inhibiting the adsorption of toxic substances, leading to enhanced chemical stability.

Oxygen Reduction Electrocatalysts toward Practical Fuel Cells: Progress and Perspectives

Shahid Zaman et al.

Summary: Fuel cells show great potential as a renewable energy technology, but face challenges due to high cost and poor reliability of cathodic electrocatalysts for the oxygen reduction reaction (ORR). This review emphasizes recent progress of ORR electrocatalysts in fuel cells and highlights issues with activity translation from laboratory testing to practical applications. Future efforts should focus on large-scale preparation, unified assessment criteria, advanced interpretation techniques, advanced simulation and artificial intelligence to advance efficient ORR electrocatalysts in fuel cells.
