Pituitary incidentalomas in paediatric population: Incidence and characteristics

Muhammed Shareef et al.

Summary: The study revealed that pituitary incidentalomas in the paediatric population are relatively rare but increase with age. Rathke's cleft cyst is the most common lesion, followed by cystic pituitary lesions and microadenomas. Common indications for imaging include growth disturbance and headache, with abnormal laboratory findings present in 13% of subjects.

Genotype-Phenotype Correlations in Central Precocious Puberty Caused by MKRN3 Mutations

Carlos Eduardo Seraphim et al.

Summary: Loss-of-function mutations in MKRN3 gene are the most common monogenic cause of familial central precocious puberty, affecting the clinical features and hormone levels of patients. Severe mutations may lead to advanced bone age maturation and higher gonadotropin levels.

Cranial MRI Abnormalities and Long-term Follow-up of the Lesions in 770 Girls With Central Precocious Puberty

Didem Helvacioglu et al.

Summary: The study showed that while age and LH/FSH ratio are significant predictors of CNS lesions in girls with central precocious puberty, their predictive power is weak. Therefore, despite the low likelihood of finding a lesion requiring intervention, systematic MRI appears to be the most efficient current approach.

Precocious Puberty and Covid-19 Into Perspective: Potential Increased Frequency, Possible Causes, and a Potential Emergency to Be Addressed

Summary: Italy has seen an increase in precocious puberty during the pandemic, which may be attributed to lifestyle changes, alterations in central nervous mediators, and exposure to endocrine disruptors. Further research is needed to better understand and address this phenomenon.
