Influence of mixed-phase TiO2 on the activity of adsorption-plasma photocatalysis for total oxidation of toluene

Zhiping Ye et al.

Summary: The study found that pure anatase TiO2 sample performed the best in the adsorption-plasma photocatalytic oxidation process, with a CO2 yield of 69.1%, while the plasma-P25/MS system achieved the highest total toluene abatement at 99.5%. Compared to the plasma-MS system, TiO2-assisted system showed no presence of certain byproducts in the toluene degradation pathway, with minimal impact on the generation of organic byproducts. After 30 minutes of treatment, almost complete mineralization of all byproducts was observed, indicating the effectiveness of TiO2 in the process.

Effect of supports on plasma catalytic decomposition of toluene using in situ plasma DRIFTS

Boqiong Jiang et al.

Summary: Plasma catalysis technology has been proven effective in decomposing volatile organic compounds (VOCs), and the impact of different supports on VOCs oxidation processes during plasma catalysis is crucial. In this study, four supports loaded with transition metal oxides were used to decompose toluene at room temperature, with 1 wt%Mn/gamma-Al2O3 showing the highest efficiency. The reaction mechanism of toluene decomposition on different catalysts was proposed, with 1 wt%Mn/gamma-Al2O3 Able to catalyze toluene further into carbonate and bicarbonate.

Yongzhao Zhang et al.

Summary: Through substituting A(2+) and Mn3+, the study investigated the impact of the structure of AMn(2)O(4) spinel catalysts on toluene oxidation. The results showed that the catalytic activity is influenced by the substitution of A-site metal, enhancing low-temperature reducibility and chemisorption oxygen activity. The incorporation of A-site metal can improve the ability of the catalyst to activate molecular state oxygen, thus enhancing catalytic activity.

Effective toluene oxidation under ozone over mesoporous MnOx/γ-Al2O3 catalyst prepared by solvent deficient method: Effect of Mn precursors on catalytic activity

Kannapu Hari Prasad Reddy et al.

Summary: The study systematically examined the role of manganese precursors in mesoporous MnOx/gamma-Al2O3 catalysts for toluene oxidation under ozone at ambient temperature, with MnOx/Al2O3(C) showing superior performance in toluene removal and ozone decomposition. The superior performance of MnOx/Al2O3(C) is attributed to the highly dispersed MnOx facilitating ozone decomposition and the vital role of toluene adsorption over the acid support. The study highlights the importance of properties such as Mn3+/Mn4+ ratio, acidic sites, and particle size in the catalytic performance.
