Polygenic Risk and the Course of Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder From Childhood to Young Adulthood: Findings From a Nationally Representative Cohort

Jessica C. Agnew-Blais et al.

Summary: The study found that genetic risk is associated with the course and presentation of ADHD in childhood and young adulthood. Participants with higher ADHD PRS were more likely to meet diagnostic criteria and exhibit more severe symptoms at different ages. In young adulthood, individuals with persistent ADHD had the highest PRS.

Systematic Review: How the Attention-Deficit/ Hyperactivity Disorder Polygenic Risk Score Adds to Our Understanding of ADHD and Associated Traits

Angelica Ronald et al.

Summary: Research on the association between ADHD polygenic risk score (PRS) and ADHD-related traits in both clinical and population samples has shown strong evidence of a link in various aspects such as ADHD, brain structure, education, externalizing behaviors, and more. However, associations with addiction, autism, and mental health remain inconclusive and require further investigation.

Genetic sensitivity analysis: Adjusting for genetic confounding in epidemiological associations

Summary: The study introduces a two-stage approach to evaluate the impact of genetic confounding on observed associations. Results indicate that a significant portion of the associations between maternal education and three child outcomes can be explained by genetic confounding.
