lncRNA HOTAIR mediates OGD/R-induced cell injury and angiogenesis in a EZH2-dependent manner

Yunpeng Wang et al.

Summary: This study revealed the important role of the HOTAIR/EZH2 axis in neonatal hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy. The expression levels of HOTAIR were increased in both neonatal HIE patients and an in vitro injury model. Inhibition of HOTAIR affected the survival ability and tight junction-related protein expression of human brain microvascular endothelial cells. Additionally, the effects of HOTAIR knockdown on cell apoptosis and invasion abilities were reversed by EZH2 overexpression. These findings provide new insights into the molecular mechanisms underlying stroke and the development of new pharmacotherapies.
