Characterization of Ex Vivo Nonmelanoma Skin Tissue Using Raman Spectroscopy

Summary: Reflectance confocal microscopy (RCM) is a non-invasive imaging tool that helps diagnose skin cancer by providing high-resolution mosaics of skin structures. This study introduces a weakly supervised machine learning model for semantic segmentation of architectural patterns in RCM mosaics, aiming to aid clinicians in interpreting diagnostic models with a focus on aspecific regions. The trained deep neural network achieved high accuracy in spatial localization of these regions, making the diagnostic decision model more interpretable to clinicians.
