Partial replacement of fishmeal with corn protein concentrate in diets for rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss): Effects on growth performance, physiometabolic responses, and fillet quality

Seyed Pezhman Hosseini Shekarabi et al.

Summary: The study found that replacing fishmeal with corn protein concentrate (CPC) up to 90 g/kg did not significantly affect the growth performance of rainbow trout, but further replacement could lead to performance reduction. Serum biochemical parameters were relatively stable except for increases in certain enzymes with higher levels of CPC in the diet. The optimal range for fishmeal substitution with CPC in rainbow trout diet was determined to be 81.0-82.2 g/kg based on the regression analysis.

Enhanced biomass production and proximate composition of marine microalga Nannochloropsis oceanica by optimization of medium composition and culture conditions using response surface methodology

Jisha Kumaran et al.

Summary: This study optimized the medium composition and culture conditions for Nannochloropsis oceanica, leading to increased biomass production and improved proximate composition of proteins, carbohydrates, and lipids. The results showed that nitrate, temperature, and pH had positive effects on biomass production, with interactions between these factors influencing the concentrations of proteins, carbohydrates, and lipids. The modified Walne's medium with increased nitrate concentration at optimum temperature and pH resulted in a 31% increase in biomass yield compared to non-optimized conditions.

Role of branched-chain amino acids on growth, physiology and metabolism of different fish species: A review

Ishtiyaq Ahmad et al.

Summary: Branched-chain amino acids play a significant role in fish physiology, particularly in protein synthesis and metabolic pathways. Leucine is crucial for mTOR activation, while isoleucine and valine predominantly influence energy and glucose metabolism.

Hemicellulose-remodelling transglycanase activities from charophytes: towards the evolution of the land-plant cell wall

Lenka Frankova et al.

Summary: Transglycanases play a crucial role in remodeling cell-wall polymers, with charophytes showing high mannanase and xylanase activities compared to land plants. Various homo- and hetero-transglycanase activities were identified in charophytes, providing insights into the evolution of cell walls in land plants. This study highlights the importance of transglycanases in charophyte cell-wall remodeling and suggests potential differences in enzyme activities between charophytes and early-diverging land plants.
