Use of Agrobacteriumtumefaciens-mediated transformation for the inactivation of pectinase genes in Colletotrichum lindemuthianum

Leandro Lopes da Silva et al.

Summary: The fungus Colletotrichum lindemuthianum has genes that encode enzymes involved in plant cell wall degradation, especially pectinases. The expression of these genes during the interaction with the common bean was analyzed, and mutants were isolated using the ATMT technique. Although the pecCl6 gene mutants showed no difference in pathogenicity, the ATMT system was not efficient for deleting pectinase-encoding genes in C.lindemuthianum.
