Personalised versus standard dosimetry approach of selective internal radiation therapy in patients with locally advanced hepatocellular carcinoma (DOSISPHERE-01): a randomised, multicentre, open-label phase 2 trial

Etienne Garin et al.

Summary: This study compared the efficacy of personalized versus standard dosimetry in selective internal radiation therapy for advanced hepatocellular carcinoma, showing that personalized dosimetry significantly improved the objective response rate. The results suggest that personalized dosimetry may enhance outcomes in clinical practice and should be considered for future trials.

Lung shunt and lung dose calculation methods for radioembolization treatment planning

S. Cheenu Kappadath et al.

Summary: Radioembolization, also known as selective internal radiation therapy (SIRT), is an established treatment for unresectable liver cancers, but lung dosimetry still faces challenges. The current methods for lung dose estimation suffer from poor accuracy and precision. Further research and improvements are needed to standardize lung dose calculations for routine clinical practice.

Reassessment of the lung dose limits for radioembolization

S. Cheenu Kappadath et al.

Summary: Radioembolization is an established treatment for unresectable liver tumors, with advancements in liver dosimetry but lacking in lung dosimetry. A systematic review and update of lung dose limits is necessary to advance the practice of radioembolization. New clinical evidence challenges historical data on lung dose limits, prompting a staged approach for improving lung dosimetry and the overall practice of radioembolization.
