Pregnancy-induced changes in the transcriptome of the bovine corpus luteum during and after embryonic interferon-tau secretion

Megan A. Mezera et al.

Summary: The study found significant alterations in expression of interferon-stimulated genes (ISGs) during early pregnancy, with immune/interferon signaling pathways being enriched. Most ISGs decreased during the second month of pregnancy, but some remained elevated even after cessation of IFNT secretion. Additionally, the study highlighted the importance of lack of PGF exposure in corpus luteum maintenance during early pregnancy, while the roles of diverse ISGs and other pathways activated during early pregnancy remain undefined.

Effect of natural pre-luteolytic prostaglandin F2α pulses on the bovine luteal transcriptome during spontaneous luteal regression

Megan A. Mezera et al.

Summary: Research suggests that early subluteolytic PGF pulses impact the luteal transcriptome during natural luteolysis, though not by directly affecting steroidogenesis or inhibiting cellular function. Instead, these early pulses mainly alter pathways related to local steroid and glutathione metabolism.

Downregulated luteolytic pathways in the transcriptome of early pregnancy bovine corpus luteum are mimicked by interferon-tau in vitro

Raghavendra Basavaraja et al.

Summary: The study revealed that there are significant differences in gene expression profiles between the CL of pregnant cows and non-pregnant cows on the same day of the cycle. The CL of pregnant cows expressed genes related to pregnancy recognition, while the CL of non-pregnant cows had elevated levels of luteal progesterone.
