Enhanced catalytic activity in hydrogen production from hydrolysis of sodium borohydride using starch hydrogel-CoNi bimetallic alloys

Sanoe Chairam et al.

Summary: In this study, starch hydrogel was used as a template to synthesize starch hydrogel-CoNi bimetallic alloys, which showed promising catalytic activity in hydrogen production. Various factors affecting the hydrolysis of NaBH4 were investigated, with the catalyst showing good reusability and stability. This approach demonstrates great potential for large-scale synthesis of bimetallic alloys with starch hydrogel as a biocompatible material for catalysis applications.

Nanocrystalline cobalt-nickel-boron (metal boride) catalysts for efficient hydrogen production from the hydrolysis of sodium borohydride

Aybike Paksoy et al.

Summary: Innovative metal boride nanocatalysts containing crystalline Co-Ni based binary/ternary boride phases were synthesized and used in the hydrolysis of NaBH4. The composite catalysts showed better catalytic performance compared to their single components, particularly the CoB-Ni4B3 phase. The results suggest that these composite structures can be used as alternative and stable catalysts for efficient hydrogen production from sodium borohydride.

Solid-state NaBH4 composites for hydrogen generation: Catalytic activity of nickel and cobalt catalysts

O. V. Netskina et al.

Summary: In the study, it was found that cobalt catalysts are more active than nickel catalysts in the hydrolysis of sodium borohydride. One reason for the lower activity of nickel catalysts is the presence of hydrogen on its surface, which interferes with reactant adsorption. The addition of cobalt to nickel catalysts can enhance hydrogen generation rate.
