Efficient aerobic oxidation of ethylbenzene accelerated by cu species in hydrotalcite

Xuan Dai et al.

Summary: The CuMgAl hydrotalcite is developed as an efficient catalyst for the aerobic oxidation of ethylbenzene to acetophenone in the presence of NHPI. The reaction is first-order over CuMgAl-LDH, and the catalyst accelerates both the conversion of ethylbenzene and the transformation of the alcohol intermediate to ketone. The positive effect of the catalyst's surface basicity on the reaction has been observed.

Organotellurium-catalyzed oxidative deoximation reactions using visible-light as the precise driving energy

Xin Deng et al.

Summary: The recyclable (PhTe)(2)-catalyzed oxidative deoximation reaction can occur under mild conditions with elevated product yields and expanded substrate scope. Using visible light as a driving energy is more precise than heating, breaking the Te-Te bond accurately without damaging the fragile substituents of substrates. The use of O-2 as an oxidant provides safer reaction conditions compared to explosive H2O2 for large-scale applications.

Fe assisted Co-containing hydrotalcites catalyst for the efficient aerobic oxidation of ethylbenzene to acetophenone

Weiyou Zhou et al.

Summary: Different cations in Co-containing hydrotalcites have significant effects on catalytic performance, with Co2Fe-LDH exhibiting the highest activity. The synergistic effect between Co and Fe species enhances the catalytic oxidation, leading to high selectivity and conversion rates in the aerobic oxidation of ethylbenzene to acetophenone. The proposed mechanisms suggest that electron transfer between Co and Fe species plays a crucial role in the reaction.

Adsorption mercury, cobalt, and nickel with a reclaimable and magnetic composite of hydroxyapatite/Fe3O4/polydopamine

Rauf Foroutan et al.

Summary: The study enhanced the adsorptive performance of hydroxyapatite (HAp) using Fe3O4 magnetic nanoparticles and polydopamine (PDA), effectively removing Hg(II), Co(II), and Ni(II). The adsorption process was most efficient at pH 6, following Langmuir and Freundlich models, with a physical mechanism for removal. The composite material showed promising results in removing toxic metals from water sources.

Preparation and characterization of a copper oxide nanoparticle-supported red-mud catalyst for liquid phase oxidation of ethyl benzene to acetophenone

Subhashree Mishra et al.

Summary: In this study, a new recyclable supported catalyst of CuO nanoparticles impregnated over activated red-mud was used to investigate the liquid phase oxidation of ethyl benzene to acetophenone. The catalyst demonstrated a selectivity of 74.0% with the oxidation process following pseudo 1st order kinetics. The study also revealed the reducible properties of the catalyst at low temperatures, attributed to the presence of small-sized CuO species on the support material.
