Highly dispersed bismuth oxide quantum dots/graphite carbon nitride nanosheets heterojunctions for visible light photocatalytic redox degradation of environmental pollutants

Ying Liang et al.

Summary: Low loading highly dispersed ultra-small quantum dots of Bi2O3 anchored onto graphite carbon nitride nanosheets were successfully synthesized using a facile wet impregnation and manual grinding strategy. The post-treatment of the prepared material through facial photoinduction significantly boosted photocatalytic removal efficiency towards tetracycline and hexachromium. The enhanced interfacial contact and charge carrier transfer between Bi2O3 QDs and g-C3N4 nanosheets led to improved photocatalytic activity with abundant free radicals produced. Additionally, the novel photocatalyst showed long term structural and photocatalytic stabilities.
