Non-excitonic defect-assisted radiative transitions are responsible for new D-type blinking in ternary quantum dots

Adam Olejniczak et al.

Summary: This study investigates the formation of dark states in semiconductor quantum dots through cooperative excitonic and intrinsic defect-assisted radiative transitions. Two conditions for dark states formation are identified, related to correlation and competition, with two transition schemes proposed to explain the phenomenon. The models proposed in this work accurately reflect experimental data and provide a better understanding of the underlying physics, indicating that dark states formation may not be limited to mechanisms involving charged excitons.

Recent Advances on Alloyed Quantum Dots for Photocatalytic Hydrogen Evolution: A Mini-Review

Deeptimayee Prusty et al.

Summary: Alloyed quantum dots are considered as promising and environmentally friendly photocatalysts for hydrogen evolution due to their earth abundance and low cost. Recent research focuses on tuning the optical and electronic properties of alloyed QDs by varying surface atomic ratio and ligand exchange. Challenges and critical issues in utilizing alloyed QDs for H-2 evolution are also discussed, aiming to provide a better understanding of their potential applications.

Ag2ZnSnS4-ZnS core-shell colloidal quantum dots: a near-infrared luminescent material based on environmentally friendly elements

Avijit Saha et al.

Summary: Low cost, environmentally friendly multinary colloidal quantum dots with bright, narrow-width, tunable near-infrared luminescence are promising alternatives to Cd and Pb chalcogenide QDs. The demonstrated Pb/Cd free solution-processed colloidal luminescent Ag2ZnSnS4-ZnS core-shell QDs show a narrow photoluminescence full width at half maximum (fwhm) in the first NIR window and achieve tunable emission with high PL quantum yield (PLQY).
