Synthesis and characterization of MXene (Ti3C2Tx)/Iron oxide composite for ultrasensitive electrochemical detection of hydrogen peroxide

Ramila D. Nagarajan et al.

Summary: In this study, titanium carbide Ti3C2Tx (MXene) was synthesized at high temperature and nanocrystalline iron oxide (alpha-Fe2O3) was obtained through a single solid-phase method. The Ti3C2Tx-Fe2O3 nanocomposite exhibited high electro-catalytic activity for H2O2 reduction, showing a linear response range from 10 nM to 1 mu M H2O2. This composite modified electrode successfully detected H2O2 in food and urine samples, suggesting its potential application in non-enzymatic H2O2 sensors for medical diagnosis, food safety, and environmental monitoring.

Yuan Gao et al.

Summary: The synthesized CuMn2O4 nanoflakes were dropcoated onto a bare glassy carbon electrode to create an enzyme-free electrochemical sensor for the detection of H2O2. This sensor exhibited high sensitivity and a low detection limit, attributed to its porous structure, large electrochemical active area, and the synergistic effect between Cu and Mn. The sensor also showed satisfactory recovery in monitoring H2O2 in various samples, indicating its potential applications in environmental, food, and biological fields.

Activating ORR and OER in Ruddlesden-Popper based catalysts by enhancing interstitial oxygen and lattice oxygen redox reactions

Baoyi Yin et al.

Summary: This study did not detect oxygen vacancies in the perovskite-like layer of RP materials and proposed that more interstitial O2- and high-active lattice oxygen ions are determinant factors for activating ORR and OER. Doping high-valence ions can enhance redox reactions, improve lattice-oxygen activity, and interstitial O2- concentration, thereby benefiting ORR and OER activity.
