Safety evaluation of pedestrian-vehicle interaction at signalized intersections in Changsha, China

Lin Hu et al.

Summary: This study investigated the unsafe conditions of pedestrian crossings at signalized intersections in Changsha, China, identifying risk factors related to severity of conflicts between pedestrians and vehicles. Significant relationships were found between severity level and characteristics of pedestrian behavior, vehicles, and conflicts, with roadway characteristics also influencing the likelihood of severe pedestrian-vehicle conflicts. Recommendations for improving the pedestrian traffic environment were proposed based on the findings.
