Adherence to best practice consensus guidelines for familial Mediterranean fever: a modified Delphi study among paediatric rheumatologists in Turkey

Gulsah Kavrul Kayaalp et al.

Summary: A consensus was reached among specialists on the importance of genetic analysis for patients with suspected FMF, as well as defining colchicine resistance and when to start biologics in resistant cases. Factors influencing the choice of biologic agents were discussed, and a protocol for adjusting treatment intervals of biologics was established.

Real-Life Data From the Largest Pediatric Familial Mediterranean Fever Cohort

Kuebra Ozturk et al.

Summary: This study aimed to determine the clinical findings, phenotype-genotype correlation, and treatment outcomes in pediatric patients with FMF. Patients with specific gene mutations showed more severe symptoms in terms of age of disease onset, annual attack count, and colchicine resistance.

Development and validation of a quality of life scale in Familial Mediterranean Fever (FMFQoL)

Cagri Unal-Ulutatar et al.

Summary: In this study, a valid and reliable FMF-specific QoL scale was developed, consisting of 4 factor groups. The scale showed strong correlations with other QoL measures and moderate correlations with functional parameters. It can be used in clinical follow-up and treatment of FMF patients.

Familial Mediterranean fever: Health-related quality of life and associated variables in a national cohort

Hatice Bodur et al.

Summary: This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of the Familial Mediterranean Fever Quality of Life (FMF-QoL) Scale in measuring quality of life (QoL) in FMF patients and to correlate clinical variables in Turkish patients. The results showed that female sex, smoking, lower education level, more severe disease, fatigue, and functional impairment were associated with poor QoL in FMF patients. The FMF-QoL Scale was found to be a valid and simple patient-reported outcome instrument, correlated with the SF-36 scale.
