MiR-744 Functions as an Oncogene Through Direct Binding to c-Fos Promoter and Facilitates Non-small Cell Lung Cancer Progression

Shangbiao Li et al.

Summary: MiR-744 plays a key role in the development of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) by up-regulating c-Fos through binding to its promoter, thereby promoting the malignant phenotype of the disease. The findings highlight the potential value of miR-744 as a therapeutic target for NSCLC.

Global cancer statistics 2020: GLOBOCAN estimates of incidence and mortality worldwide for 36 cancers in 185 countries

Hyuna Sung et al.

Summary: The global cancer burden in 2020 saw an estimated 19.3 million new cancer cases and almost 10.0 million cancer deaths. Female breast cancer surpassed lung cancer as the most commonly diagnosed cancer, while lung cancer remained the leading cause of cancer death. These trends are expected to rise in 2040, with transitioning countries experiencing a larger increase compared to transitioned countries due to demographic changes and risk factors associated with globalization and a growing economy. Efforts to improve cancer prevention measures and provision of cancer care in transitioning countries will be crucial for global cancer control.

miRNA Expression Characterizes Histological Subtypes and Metastasis in Penile Squamous Cell Carcinoma

Hiresh Ayoubian et al.

Summary: Specific miRNAs were identified as potential diagnostic and prognostic markers in different histological subtypes of penile squamous cell carcinoma (PSCC) and were associated with HPV infection. Microarray analyses revealed significant differences in expression patterns between distinct histological subtypes and metastatic PSCC.

Disruption of miRNA-mRNA Networks Defines Novel Molecular Signatures for Penile Carcinogenesis

Tatiane Katsue Furuya et al.

Summary: The study identified potential biomarkers in penile cancer by analyzing DEmiRs and DEGs, and discovered novel dysregulated miRNA-mRNA interactions in tumorigenesis. These findings enhance understanding of the regulatory roles of miRNAs and altered transcript levels in penile carcinogenesis.
