Differential expression pattern of novel MADS-box genes in early root formation and differentiation of sweet potato

Ji-Seong Kim et al.

Summary: Six novel MADS-box genes were isolated from sweet potato, which were believed to influence the entire root formation. Their expression levels varied at different stages of root development, providing a genetic basis for further research on sweet potato root formation and development.

The complete chloroplast genome sequence of the Sechium edule (Jacq.) Swartz. (Cucurbitaceae)

Haonan Cui et al.

Summary: Sechium edule (Jacq.) Swartz, an important vegetable with both food and medicinal values, has its complete chloroplast genome sequenced in this study. The genome size is 154,558 bp with 122 predicted genes, and phylogenetic analysis confirmed its family as Cucurbitaceae. This complete chloroplast genome will aid in the development of molecular markers for plant phylogenetic and population genetic studies.

Genome-Wide Analysis and the Expression Pattern of the MADS-Box Gene Family in Bletilla striata

Ze-Yuan Mi et al.

Summary: Bletilla striata (Thunb. ex A. Murray) Rchb. f., a perennial herb Orchidaceae, has potent anti-inflammatory and antiviral activities. MADS-box transcription factors play critical roles in plant developmental processes. This study identified 45 MADS-box genes in B. striata, classified into five subfamilies, and investigated their protein domains, motif compositions, and exon-intron structures. Chromosome distribution and synteny analyses revealed that segmental duplication and homologous exchange were the main expansion mechanisms for BsMADSs. Moreover, RT-qPCR analysis showed that BsMADSs had different expression patterns in response to stress treatments, providing a potential theoretical basis for further study of MADS genes in B. striata growth.
