It found that the fraction of infections that are detected varies widely over time and between countries, indicating that confirmed cases alone do not provide an accurate picture of the pandemic. The time-resolved estimates presented in the study expand the possibilities for studying the factors influencing the COVID-19 pandemic's progression in 165 countries.
