SARS-CoV-2 infections in 165 countries over time

Summary: The study estimated the prevalence of COVID-19 infections among adults in 165 countries from early 2020 to June 25, 2021, using death count statistics, age-dependent infection fatality risks, and stochastic modeling. It found that the fraction of infections that are detected varies widely over time and between countries, indicating that confirmed cases alone do not provide an accurate picture of the pandemic. The time-resolved estimates presented in the study expand the possibilities for studying the factors influencing the COVID-19 pandemic's progression in 165 countries.
