Cu-Mn-O nano-particle/nano-sheet spinel-type materials as catalysts in methanol steam reforming (MSR) and preferential oxidation (PROX) reaction for purified hydrogen production

Venkata D. B. C. Dasireddy et al.

Summary: Nanocomposite Cu-Mn-O nano-particle (CuMnNP) and nano-sheet (CuMnNS) catalysts were successfully prepared via a one-step hydrothermal method without any templating reagent. CuMnNS showed enhanced crystal lattice oxygen reactivity and higher O2 adsorption/storage capacity compared to CuMnNP. Additionally, CuMnNS demonstrated superior catalytic activity in the preferential oxidation (PROX) pathway of CO.

Fei Chen et al.

Summary: In this study, Cu/ZnO/MgO catalysts were prepared and tested for low-temperature methanol synthesis. The results showed that Cu/ZnO/MgO catalysts exhibited higher methanol yield and stability compared to Cu/ZnO catalysts. Furthermore, Cu/ZnO/MgO catalyst demonstrated higher space time yield of methanol compared to other reported Cu-based catalysts.

Summary: This review discusses various methods of hydrogen production from methanol, with a focus on catalyst development and reactor technology. Copper-based catalysts are popular due to their high activity and selectivity but have stability issues, leading to exploration of other metals like zinc and chromium. Novel reactor structures such as porous copper fiber sintered-felt and membrane reactors have been explored for improved efficiency and energy savings.

Nanometer Pore Structure Characterization of Taiyuan Formation Shale in the Lin-Xing Area Based on Nitrogen Adsorption Experiments

Chenlong Ding et al.

Summary: The Ordos Basin in China is an important site for continental shale gas exploration, with the micropore structure of shale reservoirs being crucial for evaluation. The Taiyuan Formation of the lower Permian is the main interval for exploration, particularly in the Lin-Xing area of Northern Shaanxi. Analysis of nitrogen adsorption experiments revealed dominant mesopores and macropores in the pore structure, with some micropores. There was no notable linear correlation between total organic carbon, vitrinite reflectance, quartz content, clay mineral content, and the specific surface area and total pore volume of the shale.
