A computational multi-scale model for the stiffness degradation of short-fiber reinforced plastics subjected to fatigue loading

Jonathan Koebler et al.

Summary: This study investigates the stiffness degradation of short-fiber reinforced thermoplastics under high-cycle fatigue loading using a simple isotropic fatigue-damage model. The research focuses on the influence of numerical and material parameters on effective stiffness degradation, as well as the dependence on geometric parameters of the composite material. A model-order reduction strategy is used for component-scale simulations.

An innovative computational framework for the analysis of complex mechanical behaviors of short fiber reinforced polymer composites

Zeyang Li et al.

Summary: In this study, an innovative computational framework is proposed for the analysis of short fiber reinforced polymer (SFRP) composites, providing a deeper understanding of their microstructures and mechanical behaviors. The predicted properties of the composites are verified and the damage evolution process is quantitatively characterized. An in situ microtomography tensile test is conducted to validate the feasibility and accuracy of the proposed framework.
