Rational engineering of superaerophobic CoMoSx electrocatalysts for overall water splitting

Haoran Mu et al.

Summary: Superaerophobic electrocatalysts have been proposed as a promising solution for addressing gas bubble adhesion and departure issues in gas evolution reactions. By modulating CoMoSx supported on nickel foam (NF) with three different geometries through varying synthesis time, the morphology-dependent superaerophobicity and resulting electrocatalytic performance were investigated. The optimal CoMoSx/NF-1h with hierarchical nanostructure exhibited an extremely high current density of 500 mA/cm2 for overall water splitting at 1.89 V, providing insights for further engineering superaerophobic electrocatalysts in a practical manner.
