Ribociclib-Loaded Ethylcellulose-Based Nanosponges: Formulation, Physicochemical Characterization, and Cytotoxic Potential against Breast Cancer

Mohammed Muqtader Ahmed et al.

Summary: In this study, ribociclib-loaded nanosponges (RCNs) composed of ethylcellulose and polyvinyl alcohol were successfully developed as potential nanocarriers for breast cancer treatment. The optimized RCN3 formulation exhibited good drug encapsulation efficiency and enhanced drug release compared to free ribociclib. In vitro experiments demonstrated that the RCN3 system showed greater cytotoxicity and induced higher levels of apoptosis in breast cancer cell lines, suggesting its potential effectiveness in breast cancer treatment.

Design and development of polymeric micelles as nanocarriers for anti-cancer Ribociclib drug

Zhongjie Fei et al.

Summary: This study investigates the assembly mechanism of Ribociclib encapsulated by DPC micelle using all-atom molecular dynamics simulations. The main forces involved in the drug encapsulation process are hydrophobic and van der Waals interactions, with hydrogen bonding and electrostatic interactions also contributing. Solvent accessible surface area and radial distribution function analyses show that DPC micelles can improve the aqueous solubility of hydrophobic drugs, providing a new pathway for designing drug delivery systems with necessary properties.
