Handmade Paper as a Paper Analytical Device for Determining the Quality of an Antidiabetic Drug

Ram Kumar Bhattarai et al.

Summary: In this study, the potential of handmade Nepali paper in fabricating paper analytical devices (PADs) was systematically investigated. Five different handmade papers were characterized using an eco-friendly method, and the best paper sample was selected to fabricate PADs for determining the concentration of the antidiabetic drug metformin. The results demonstrate that PADs on handmade paper may offer a low-cost and easy-to-use system for screening drug quality and other point-of-need applications.

Development of a HPLC Fluorescence Method for Determining Efficacy of Milk Pasteurization

Meena R. Kumari et al.

Summary: A new HPLC method with fluorescence detector was developed to quantify ALP enzyme activity in pasteurized milk. The method showed high specificity, good linearity, low limits of detection and quantification, accuracy, and precision. Comparative evaluation demonstrated that this HPLC method can detect very low levels of ALP activity and raw milk contamination, offering potential enhancement to quality assurance standards in the dairy industry.

Development of a Microbiological Paper-Based Analytical Device to Detect Fecal Contamination of Water in Resource-Limited Settings

Natalie Spica et al.

Summary: The MicroBioPAD, a business card-sized device, was developed as an affordable and user-friendly method for detecting microbial water contamination. It showed faster and more accurate detection compared to standard culture-based tests, with 100% accuracy in detecting E. coli levels >= 3 CFU/ml. The device is useful for determining water suitability for bathing, cleaning, and recreational purposes.

Milk adulterant detection: Conventional and biosensor based approaches: A review

Rupak Nagraik et al.

Summary: The adulteration of milk is a global concern due to the rise of fraudulent practices involving harmful additives. Various methods such as chromatography, immunological techniques, and spectroscopic methods are used for detecting and identifying milk adulterants. Biosensors have shown potential in providing rapid and real-time detection of common milk adulterants.
