Jie Liu et al.

Summary: The efficient combination of urea and Schiff-base bifunctional derivatives led to satisfactory gelation capacity and fluorescent sensing behaviors towards Zn2+. Among the derivatives, MG exhibited the best Zn2+ selectivity and enabled visual detection at cellular level via gel-sol transition. The assembly performances of these derivatives during gel formation were markedly different due to the various locations of urea and imine moieties.

Novel amino substituted tetracyclic imidazo[4,5-b]pyridine derivatives: Design, synthesis, antiproliferative activity and DNA/RNA binding study

Borka Loncar et al.

Summary: A novel series of tetracyclic imidazo[4,5-b]pyridine derivatives were designed and synthesized as potential antiproliferative agents, with the position of N atom in the pyridine nuclei significantly impacting their activity against human cancer cells. Some compounds showed improved activity compared to standard drug etoposide, particularly on HCT116 and MCF-7 cancer cells. The position of N nitrogen in the pyridine ring and the presence of amino side chains on the tetracyclic core influenced interactions with DNA/RNA and the enhancement of antiproliferative activity.

An ESIPT based turn on fluorochromogenic sensor for low level discrimination of chemically analogous Zn2+ and Cd2+ & aqueous phase recognition of bio-hazardous CN: From solution state analysis to prototype fabrication

Suparna Paul et al.

Summary: This study reports a versatile naphthalene-benzothiazole-based chemoreceptor (BTN) capable of selectively recognizing Zn2+ and Cd2+. BTN undergoes chromogenic changes (colorless to pale yellow) in the presence of Zn2+ in purely aqueous medium and recognizes Cd2+ through a fluorogenic response (non-fluorescent to blooming green emission). Additionally, BTN displays dual-channel chromo-fluorogenic response in the presence of the bio-hazardous CN-.
