Polymer microgels for the stabilization of gold nanoparticles and their application in the catalytic reduction of nitroarenes in aqueous media

Muhammad Arif et al.

Summary: Polymer microgels with a polystyrene core and poly(N-isopropylmethacrylamide) shell were synthesized, and gold nanoparticles were successfully incorporated into the shell region. The Au-P(STY@NIPM) system was found to be an efficient and recyclable catalyst for the conversion of nitroarenes to aminoarenes using NaBH4 as a reductant.

Swift reduction of nitroaromatics by gold nanoparticles anchored on steam-activated carbon black via simple preparation

Yukui Fu et al.

Summary: In this study, gold nanoparticles supported on steam-activated carbon black (Au/SCB) composites were successfully prepared and showed efficient catalytic performance in the reduction of 4-nitrophenol. The steam activation process increased the surface area and pore volume of SCB, making it suitable for anchoring Au nanoparticles and promoting catalytic activity. This work contributes to the fabrication of other supported metal nanoparticle catalysts for different functional nanocomposites.
