Optically actuating ultra-stable radicals in a large π-conjugated ligand constructed photochromic complex

Ji-Xiang Hu et al.

Summary: Producing ultra-stabilized radicals via light irradiation is a significant challenge in functional materials. A photochromic compound constructed with tri(4-pyridyl)-1,3,5-triazine (TPT) ligands has been discovered to optically actuate ultra-stable radicals with a lifetime of about 18 months. Additionally, the antiferromagnetic couplings between TPT radicals and Cu2+ ions result in significant demagnetization after light irradiation, demonstrating the largest room temperature photodemagnetization in radical-based photochromic materials.

Spin Crossover and High-Spin State in Fe(II) Anionic Polymorphs Based on Tripodal Ligands

Emmelyne Cuza et al.

Summary: Two new mononuclear Fe(II) polymorphs with the same anionic complex have been synthesized and characterized. While polymorph 2 exhibits a high-spin state throughout the temperature range, complex 1 undergoes a complete spin crossover transition at around 132.3 K.

Insights into the magnetism and phase transitions of organic radical-based materials

Merce Deumal et al.

Summary: Organic radicals are considered promising building blocks for the next generation of applied materials, with multiple radical families developed and characterized. Computational modeling has provided insight into the magnetism and phase transitions of these materials, highlighting the importance of dynamic effects and the coupling between electronic structure and order-disorder transitions for the rational design of new dynamic organic crystals.
