A General Strategy to Immobilize Single-Atom Catalysts in Metal-Organic Frameworks for Enhanced Photocatalysis

Jianfei Sui et al.

Summary: The development of a universal synthetic protocol immobilizing single-atom catalysts (SACs) in metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) has been achieved. This approach allows for the installation of different single-atom metal sites and changing of MOF supports to enhance catalytic activity. Specifically, the Pt-1/SnO2/MOF exhibited significantly higher activity for photocatalytic hydrogen production compared to Pt nanoparticles stabilized by SnO2/UiO-66-NH2.

Fabricating a Functionalized Polyoxometalate with ZIF-8: AComposite Material for Water Oxidation in a Wide pH Range

Sateesh Mulkapuri et al.

Summary: An efficient electrocatalyst for water oxidation has been synthesized in this study, and its electrochemical properties have been extensively investigated. By encapsulating a functionalized Keggin polyoxometalate (POM) anion into a zeolitic-type framework material, a host-guest-type composite material was obtained, which exhibits excellent water oxidation performance over a wide pH range.

Design of Hybrid Zeolitic Imidazolate Framework-Derived Material with C-Mo-S Triatomic Coordination for Electrochemical Oxygen Reduction

Yang Li et al.

Summary: The study introduces a new concept of temperature-induced on-site conversion approach (TOCA) to transform MoO(4) units into C-Mo-S triatomic coordination. The optimized hybrid demonstrates excellent kinetic performance and stability in oxygen reduction reaction, surpassing most Mo-based catalysts reported.

Metal-Organic Frameworks-Derived Self-Supported Carbon-Based Composites for Electrocatalytic Water Splitting

Yikang Cong et al.

Summary: Electrocatalytic water splitting is a promising strategy for sustainable hydrogen energy development, and self-supported metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) can be suitable templates/precursors to construct free-standing carbon-based composites with well-aligned array architecture and evenly distributed active sites, serving as alternative options to non-noble metal-included electrocatalysts.

Local spin-state tuning of cobalt-iron selenide nanoframes for the boosted oxygen evolution

Jun-Ye Zhang et al.

Summary: The study introduces cobalt-iron selenide nanoframes as a highly efficient electrocatalyst for water oxidation, achieving a low overpotential and outperforming most cobalt-based catalysts and even benchmarked commercial ruthenium oxides. Iron doping regulates the local spin state of cobalt species, accelerating charge transfer and formation of oxygenated intermediates, ultimately leading to enhanced oxygen evolution efficiency. This work may pioneer a promising approach in energy conversion technologies by tuning the local electronic structure to improve electrocatalysis activities.
