A New Diagnostic Technique for Reliable Decision-Making on Transformer FRA Data in Interturn Short-Circuit Condition

Yerbol Akhmetov et al.

Summary: Interpreting the results of a transformer FRA is challenging, and summarizing the data using statistical indicators over FRA spectra is common. By modifying the conventional measurement setup and establishing boundary conditions for SIs in different operational modes, the study aims to move from subjective to data-driven interpretations. However, this shift introduces inherent uncertainty, which is addressed through a novel solution inspired by bolstered error estimation in pattern recognition, providing a level of confidence in the observed SI magnitude belonging to a specific operational mode.

Summary: Frequency response analysis (FRA) is widely used for evaluating the mechanical integrity of power transformers. Recent studies have standardized measurement procedures, but interpretation of results remains limited. Evaluation and comparison of numerical indices can help identify more suitable indices for calculating changes in FRA signatures.

Winding deformation classification in a power transformer based on the time-frequency image of frequency response analysis using Hilbert-Huang transform and evidence theory

Alireza Shamlou et al.

Summary: This study presents a novel fully-automated technique to interpret a frequency response analysis (FRA) of a power transformer, using a combined method based on digital image processing and evidence theory. The proposed method is shown to report faults with remarkable accuracy by a finite element model of a three-phase 125 MVA, 230/132/20 kV autotransformer, in which various faults with different severities are simulated and tested. The method first obtains a time-frequency image using the Hilbert-Huang transform and then imports the image's histogram into an evidence theory-based classifier to detect radial and axial deformation faults.

Summary: This paper utilizes FRA as a reliable tool for fault detection in transformers and classifies faults using intelligent classifiers. The study proposes a new feature based on measured transfer functions of model transformers for training and validation of the classifiers. After completing the training process, the performance of the classifiers is evaluated and compared using data obtained from real transformers.

High Impedance Single-Phase Faults Diagnosis in Transmission Lines via Deep Reinforcement Learning of Transfer Functions

Hamid Teimourzadeh et al.

Summary: Accurate and fast fault detection in transmission lines is crucial for power system reliability. Existing methods often suffer from false detections of high-impedance faults. This paper introduces the TF method, followed by the utilization of CNN and DRL hybrid model to identify and locate faults. Results show DRL model outperforms CNN in early detection of high-impedance faults.
