A study on the synergetic effect of Bacillus amyloliquefaciens and dipotassium phosphate on Alternaria solani causing early blight disease of tomato

Muhammad Imran et al.

Summary: This study investigated the effects of bioagents and dipotassium phosphate (DPP) and their combination on the reduction of early blight disease. The results showed that a native bacterial strain, Bacillus amyloliquefaciens, exhibited significant control against the pathogen, and DPP inhibited mycelial growth. The combination of DPP and B. amyloliquefaciens showed antagonistic activity against the pathogen and effectively reduced disease severity. The application of these bioagents and DPP also promoted plant growth and development.

Potential of Trichoderma piluliferum as a biocontrol agent of Colletotrichum musae in banana fruits

Ana Carolina da Costa et al.

Summary: The study evaluated the antagonistic capacity of T. piluliferum against C. musae, showing that T. piluliferum inhibited the mycelial growth of C. musae through the production of volatile and nonvolatile metabolites as well as cell-wall degrading enzymes. This biological control method proved to be effective in reducing postharvest diseases in banana fruits compared to chemical fungicides.

Biogenic α-Fe2O3 Nanoparticles Enhance the Biological Activity of Trichoderma against the Plant Pathogen Sclerotinia sclerotiorum

Natalia Bilesky-Jose et al.

Summary: This study focuses on the green synthesis of biogenic iron oxide nanoparticles using Trichoderma harzianum as a stabilizing agent. The nanoparticles were characterized using various techniques, and it was found that they did not have negative effects on cell viability or seed germination. Additionally, they exhibited inhibitory effects on the pathogen Sclerotinia sclerotiorum.

Characterization of the Field Fludioxonil Resistance and Its Molecular Basis in Botrytis cinerea from Shanghai Province in China

Weizhen Wang et al.

Summary: Botrytis cinerea shows varying degrees of resistance to fludioxonil, with most resistant isolates also developing resistance to other fungicides. However, the fitness of resistant isolates is lower than that of sensitive ones. Further investigation into the molecular resistance mechanisms revealed specific amino acid mutations in the resistant isolates.

Zinc oxide nanoparticles (ZnO-NPs) induce salt tolerance by improving the antioxidant system and photosynthetic machinery in tomato

Mohammad Faizan et al.

Summary: Foliar application of zinc oxide nanoparticles significantly enhances the growth performance and salt tolerance of tomato plants, increasing chlorophyll content and photosynthetic attributes. Zinc oxide nanoparticles mitigate the negative impact of salt stress on tomato growth, enhancing protein content and antioxidative enzyme activity.

Characterization and sensitivity of Botrytis cinerea to benzimidazole and succinate dehydrogenase inhibitors fungicides, and illustration of the resistance profile

Muhammad Imran et al.

Summary: Botrytis cinerea, a devastating ascomycete pathogen affecting crops globally, exhibits resistance to multiple fungicides due to point mutations. This study isolated and analyzed resistance mechanisms in B. cinerea, focusing on specific resistance patterns and molecular mutations associated with SDHI and benzimidazole-based fungicides, highlighting the importance of integrated disease management to mitigate resistance development.
