Summary: The study found that a relatively low proportion of advanced endoscopy fellows (AEFs) achieved competence in key cognitive and technical aspects of colorectal EMR (C-EMR) during their 12-month fellowship. Although AEFs reported feeling comfortable performing C-EMR independently at the end of their training, only 2 of them actually achieved competence in their overall performance, with a minimum threshold of 25 C-EMRs for competence.

Summary: The study found that older patients with endoscopic clips placed during the procedure and those who were Asian and African American were more likely to have a higher adenoma recurrence rate after cold snare endoscopic mucosal resection (EMR). Additionally, larger polyps, tubulovillous adenomas, and polyps with high-grade dysplasia were associated with higher recurrence rates.

Summary: Thermal ablation of the defect margin after endoscopic mucosal resection (EMR-T) has been shown to significantly reduce residual or recurrent adenoma (RRA) at first surveillance colonoscopy. In an international multi-center prospective trial, EMR-T was found to be a simple, inexpensive, and highly effective auxiliary technique for managing large nonpedunculated colorectal polyps.

Summary: A study in Australia compared the effectiveness of p-CSP and traditional EMR in managing large L-SSLs. The study found that p-CSP was technically as effective as EMR but significantly reduced the risk of delayed bleeding and perforation. Therefore, p-CSP should be considered the new standard of care for treating L-SSLs.
