Repeatability of the Oxford Foot Model: Comparison of a team of assessors with different backgrounds and no prior experience of the Oxford Foot Model

J. Reay et al.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the intra- and inter-assessor error of the Oxford Foot Model (OFM) during healthy adult walking when applied by three assessors with different professional backgrounds and lower limb marker placement experience. The results showed that OFM has good repeatability in terms of inter- and intra-assessor error, but some joint angles had larger errors and certain movements were not recommended as outcome measures. In addition, assessors with prior anatomical knowledge and significant lower limb marker placement experience had lower intra-assessor error.

Immediate comfort perception of 3D-printed foot orthoses in individuals with unilateral heel pain

Malia Ho et al.

Summary: This study compares the dimensions and comfort perception of 3D-printed foot orthoses (FOs) and traditionally made FOs. The results show that 3D-printed FOs are wider and have higher arch heights and heel cup heights compared to traditionally made FOs. There is a difference in comfort perception between the three orthotic conditions, with no difference in comfort perception between 3D-printed and traditionally made FOs. Both FOs were significantly more comfortable than no orthoses.

Effects of foot orthosis on ground reaction forces and perception during short sprints in flat-footed athletes

Jun W. Ng et al.

Summary: The study found that wearing prefabricated foot orthosis can increase impact force and loading rate, enhance the kinetic variability of peak propulsive force, and provide better arch support, but at the same time reduce cushioning for the forefoot and heel, leading to a decrease in overall comfort.
