The results showed that the toads rapidly equilibrated with ambient air temperatures at night, but during the day, they maintained a body temperature around 30 degrees Celsius by adjusting the depth to which they were buried. This suggests that they behaviorally thermoregulate during resting hours to maintain a high metabolic rate regardless of the dryness of their immediate surroundings.
