DFT simulation-based screening of single transition metals supported on g-C3N4 for the catalytic oxidation of Hg0

Shuai Liu et al.

Summary: This study investigated the adsorption and oxidation of elemental mercury by O2 on a series of buckled g-C3N4 monolayer-supported transition metals using Density Functional Theory method. Results showed that Fe-g-C3N4 exhibited the lowest energy barrier for O2 dissociation, while Pd-g-C3N4 was found to be the most efficient catalyst for the cleavage of Pd-O bonds. Covalent interaction of metal-O bonds was demonstrated by the overlaps between metal d orbitals and O p orbitals.

CO2 adsorption and dissociation on single and double iron atomic molybdenum disulfide catalysts: A DFT study

Chongchong Wu et al.

Summary: Efficient two-dimensional molybdenum disulfide (MoS2) catalysts for CO2 reduction have not been developed. The study found that introducing sulfur vacancy, Fe deposition, and doping on MoS2 can promote CO2 adsorption and direct dissociation, with double Fe atomic MoS2 catalysts showing the best performance.

Single-atom iron as a promising low-temperature catalyst for selective catalytic reduction of NOx with NH3: A theoretical prediction

Weijie Yang et al.

Summary: This study proposes a novel low-temperature NH3-SCR catalyst using Fe1-N4, revealing its reaction mechanism through density functional theory calculations and microkinetic modeling. The Fe1-N4 catalyst shows outstanding deNOx performance in a temperature window below 430K, with fast NO oxidation promoting the rate of NH3-SCR reaction.

Catalytic mechanism of Na on coal pyrolysis-derived carbon black formation: Experiment and DFT simulation

Dongdong Feng et al.

Summary: Coal-derived carbon black, the main component of PM2.5, is widely used in the rubber industry and energy storage. The study reveals that Na affects the formation mechanism of carbon black, influencing its molecular length, curvature, and spacing, as well as enhancing its electrochemical performance.

Mechanism of the Heterogeneous Reduction of NO on a Sodium-Doped Char Surface: A First-Principles Study

Jiancheng Yang et al.

Summary: This study analyzed the effect of sodium on the reaction path of char heterogeneous reduction of NO based on first-principles study, revealing that sodium atoms can lower the energy barriers of reduction reactions and change the reaction from nonspontaneous to spontaneous. The study also showed that the reactivity of the zigzag model is better than that of the armchair model and improved the mechanism of char heterogeneous reduction of NO.

DFT insights in to the hydrodenitrogenation behavior differences between indole and quinoline

Xiaodong Liu et al.

Summary: The study found that Ni-S-Edge is suitable for the hydrogenation saturation of nitrogen compounds' aromatic rings, while Ni-Mo-Edge is responsible for hydrogenolysis and denitrogenation. Indole and 1,2,3,4-tetrahydroquinoline exhibit different behavior in hydrogenation and denitrogenation processes.
