Technology-enhanced visual desensitization home exercise program for post-concussive visually induced dizziness: a case series

Julia E. Hurtado et al.

Summary: This study found that a combination of conventional vestibular rehabilitation therapy (VRT) and a technology-enhanced visual desensitization home exercise program can significantly improve subjective and objective measures of post-concussive dizziness. The response to intervention was not affected by pre-injury migraine history, but pre-injury depression/anxiety increased self-reported post-treatment anxiety.

The force-generation capacity of the tibialis anterior muscle at different muscle-tendon lengths depends on its motor unit contractile properties

Alessandro Cudicio et al.

Summary: The study investigated the influence of muscle-tendon length on motor unit (MU) characteristics during voluntary contractions. The findings suggested that at optimal muscle lengths, there were higher variations in MU twitch torque, explaining the greater force-generation capacity of muscles in this position. This result was confirmed by deconvolution of electrically evoked contractions at different stimulation frequencies and muscle-tendon lengths.

Balance Impairment in Fahr's Disease: Mixed Signs of Parkinsonism and Cerebellar Disorder. A Case Study

Stefano Scarano et al.

Summary: This study analyzed the balance ability of patients with Fahr's disease and found vestibular balance control impairment during standing. The characteristics of balance impairment outlined in this study are of great significance for neurologists and physiatrists in detecting, staging, and treating this rare condition.

What Happened with Muscle Force, Dynamic Stability And Falls? A 10-Year Longitudinal Follow-Up in Adults with Myotonic Dystrophy Type 1

Elisabet Hammaren et al.

Summary: This study explored the progression of muscle force and dynamic stability in individuals with DM1 over a ten-year period, revealing a significant decrease in distal ankle muscle strength and dynamic stability, leading to frequent falls. Male patients were more prone to falls, and there was a strong positive correlation between walking time and number of falls.

Summary: This scoping review aimed to map the evidence regarding RFD as an indicator of neuromuscular fatigue, finding that peak RFD and early phase RFD appear to be more sensitive indicators of neuromuscular fatigue compared to MVF and late phase RFD.
