Extraction and characterization of Argentine red shrimp (Pleoticus muelleri) phospholipids as raw material for liposome production

Carolina Pascual-Silva et al.

Summary: Phospholipids rich in omega-3 fatty acids from Argentine red shrimp waste were used to produce food-grade liposomes. The phospholipid fraction presented high stability and mainly consisted of phosphatidylcholine (PC) with a combination of different fatty acids. The resulting liposomes were approximately 140 nm in size, with high stability for 28 days at 4 degrees Celsius.

High-coverage lipidomics for functional lipid and pathway analyses

Sin Man Lam et al.

Summary: The rapid advances in lipidomics, particularly in analytical coverage, have outpaced developments in lipid pathway analysis due to challenges in coherent alignment of lipid identifiers and the complexity of lipid metabolic relationships. Integrating lipid pathway analysis is crucial for transitioning lipidomics from a phenotype validation tool to a hypothesis-generating tool.

Real-time detection of authenticity and adulteration of krill phospholipids with soybean phospholipids using rapid evaporative ionization mass spectrometry: Application on commercial samples

Yiwei Cui et al.

Summary: A novel in-situ method using rapid evaporative ionization mass spectrometry (REIMS) with an electric heating probe was developed for real-time detection of authenticity and adulteration of krill phospholipids with soybean phospholipids. Commercial samples could be directly analyzed without preparation, and accurate differentiation was achieved using characteristic ions.
