Enrichment of diamide insecticides from environmental water samples using metal-organic frameworks as adsorbents for determination by liquid chromatography tandem mass spectrometry

Wen Ma et al.

Summary: A series of metal-organic frameworks were synthesized and used as adsorbents for five diamide insecticides, with MIL-101-NH2 showing superior performance. A sensitive method combining dispersive solid phase extraction with liquid chromatography tandem mass spectrometry was developed, achieving high enrichment efficiency by investigating key parameters. The proposed method demonstrated ultrahigh sensitivity and wide linearity for the analysis of diamide insecticides.

Tetrafluoroterephthalonitrile-crosslinked β-cyclodextrin polymer as a binding agent of diffusive gradients in thin-films for sampling endocrine disrupting chemicals in water

Huan Li et al.

Summary: The inexpensive and reproducible material beta-Cyclodextrin (beta-CD) derived from corn starch is potentially a suitable binding agent for passive sampling technique DGT. The tetrafluomterephthalonitrile-crosslinked beta-cyclodextrin polymer (TEN-CD) showed efficient adsorption of endocrine disrupting chemicals (EDCs) in water. The TFN-CD-DGT demonstrated good adsorption capacities and could be deployed for 7 days in EDC solution.

Magnetic metal-organic framework MIL-100 (Fe)/polyethyleneimine composite as an adsorbent for the magnetic solid-phase extraction of fungicides and their determination using HPLC-UV

Ibrahim Abdelhai Senosy et al.

Summary: Fe3O4@MIL-100 (Fe)/PEI was utilized as an adsorbent for the extraction of pesticide residues from food matrices, characterized by various techniques and successfully applied for the quantification of triazole fungicides in fruits and vegetables. The method showed good linearity, low limits of detection, and high extraction recoveries, making it a promising and cost-effective material for pesticide residue analysis.

Solvent-Free Production of 5-Hydroxymethylfurfural from Deep Eutectic Substrate Reaction Mixtures over a Magnetically Recoverable Solid Acid Catalyst

Sabah Karimi et al.

Summary: A novel magnetically recoverable solid acid catalyst was synthesized by immobilizing sulfonic acid groups on triazine dendrimer-modified magnetic nanoparticles. The catalyst showed high efficiency in converting carbohydrates to 5-HMF in various deep eutectic mixtures as neoteric green and environmentally benign reaction media, and could be easily separated and recycled using a magnetic field.

Essential oils and quality composts sourced by recycling vegetable residues from the aromatic plant supply chain

Massimo Zaccardelli et al.

Summary: This study aimed to recover residues of aromatic plants by extracting essential oil and aromatic water and reusing oil-free biomasses for composting in a circular economy perspective. The results showed higher yields of essential oils, especially for sage and rosemary, from plant residues. The compost can be applied for soil fertility restoration, and composts derived from the three species were found to be suitable for agricultural use based on phytotoxicity tests.

Rapid synthesis of multifunctional β-cyclodextrin nanospheres as alkali-responsive nanocarriers and selective antibiotic adsorbents

Qiuju Li et al.

Summary: Novel hypercross-linked beta-cyclodextrin nanospheres were rapidly synthesized with 4-amino-6-hydroxy-2-mercaptopyrimidine as a cross-linker in the open water phase at a low temperature of 60 degrees C within 5 minutes, simplifying and accelerating the conventional time-consuming and environmentally harsh synthesis of cyclodextrin-containing polymers. These nanospheres demonstrate excellent and controllable performance as alkali-responsive nanocarriers and selective adsorbents for antibiotics.
