Application of NIR spectroscopy for rapid quantification of acid and peroxide in crude peanut oil coupled multivariate analysis

Suleiman A. Haruna et al.

Summary: This study investigated two key parameters for evaluating the oxidation level in crude peanut oil. The combination of near-infrared spectroscopy and chemometric algorithms was attempted and assessed. The results showed that near-infrared spectroscopy coupled with CARS-PLS could be used as a fast and non-invasive technique for quantifying acid value and peroxide value in crude peanut oil.

Analytical methods for determining the peroxide value of edible oils: A mini-review

Na Zhang et al.

Summary: Edible oils are prone to oxidation during processing and storage, which can have a negative impact on oil quality and human health. Determining the peroxide value (PV) of oils is essential for monitoring lipid oxidation and controlling oil quality. Various traditional titration and instrumental methods have been developed, each with their own advantages and limitations for PV determination. Reforms and future prospects for the application of these methods are also discussed.

Quantitative determination of peroxide value of edible oil by algorithm-assisted liquid interfacial surface enhanced Raman spectroscopy

Yifan Jiang et al.

Summary: In this study, a surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy analyzer based on plasmonic metal liquid-like platform (PML-SERS) was developed for rapid and accurate analysis of edible oil oxidation. The analyzer has the ability to quantitatively detect peroxide value (POV) and achieve rapid spectral recognition for edible oil oxidation, with a relative deviation of less than 10% compared to the national standard method. This platform provides a practical solution for ultra-sensitive and fast analysis of POV in oil oxidation.

Photoluminescence of Doped Superatoms M@Au12 (M = Ru, Rh, Ir) Homoleptically Capped by (Ph2)PCH2P(Ph2): Efficient Room-Temperature Phosphorescence from Ru@Au12

Shinjiro Takano et al.

Summary: A series of doped gold superatoms M@Au-12 were synthesized and the Ru@Au-12 superatom exhibited room-temperature phosphorescence in deaerated dichloromethane with a quantum yield of 0.37. Density functional theory calculations suggested that the efficient phosphorescence is attributed to rapid intersystem crossing between singlet and triplet excited states with structural and energy similarities.

Jianwen Lan et al.

Summary: Carboxyl-containing and amine-rich Zn-MOF was synthesized using a simple stirring method, with the addition of organic amines reducing synthesis time to 2 hours. The hierarchical pores in the obtained Zn-MOF facilitated substrate diffusion and interaction with CO2, resulting in efficient catalysis of CO2 fixation with epoxides. The catalyst showed improved activity compared to traditional Zn-MOF, with a 97% yield of propene carbonate achieved at room temperature.
