Mechanical properties and thermal shock in thin ZrO2-Y2O3-Al2O3 films obtained by the sol-gel method

Antonio Diaz-Parralejo et al.

Summary: This study prepared thin multilayer coatings of ZrO2-Y2O3-Al2O3 using the sol-gel method and dip-coating technique, investigating the influence of Al2O3 incorporation on the films. It was found that increasing alumina content improved the toughness and resistance to thermal shock of the coatings.

Interfacial interactions and properties of cellular structured polyurethane nanocomposite based on carbonaceous nano-fillers

Subhash Mandal et al.

Summary: This study investigated the impact of different carbonaceous nanofillers on the tensile properties of thermoplastic polyurethane cellular structures. Results showed that 2D and 3D fillers significantly improved tensile strength and modulus, while 0D fillers performed poorly and 1D fillers showed marginal enhancement. The interfacial adhesion of the fillers was found to be significantly higher for 2D and 3D compared to 0D fillers, as calculated using experimental and predictive models.

Experimental and Numerical Analysis of High-Temperature Superconducting Tapes Modified by Composite Thermal Stabilization Subjected to Thermomechanical Loading

Eva Cuninkova et al.

Summary: The study focused on the strain behavior of SiC/Stycast 2850 FT composites under thermomechanical loading, indicating their potential use as thermal stabilizers for HTS tapes. Experimental and FEA analysis showed that the SB11-SiC20 composite coating demonstrated good resistance to temperature changes.

Temperature-Dependent Dielectric Properties of Polyimide (PI) and Polyamide (PA) Nanocomposites

Jordan Cook et al.

Summary: This study found that polyimide and polyamide nanocomposites exhibit exceptional dielectric performance at cryogenic temperatures, with polyimide being the stronger material. Samples tested in cryogenic environments showed significant improvement in dielectric strength compared to those tested at room temperature. Various factors such as free charge carriers, heat generation, material degradation, thermal contraction, and interfacial changes were found to influence the performance of these dielectrics at cryogenic temperatures.
