Long-term maintenance treatment of psoriasis: the role of calcipotriol/betamethasone dipropionate aerosol foam in clinical practice

Gabriella Fabbrocini et al.

Summary: Most patients with psoriasis have mild-to-moderate disease and can be treated with topical therapy as first-line treatment. A fixed-dose combination of betamethasone dipropionate and vitamin D analogue foam has been approved as the first-line topical treatment for psoriasis in the USA and EU. This position paper provides a critical discussion on the long-term management of psoriasis with this foam, including its biological rationale, evidence, and application in different disease severities and treatment regimens.

Study of Skin Barrier Function in Psoriasis: The Impact of Emollients

Daniel Maroto-Morales et al.

Summary: This study aimed to evaluate the effect of Vaseline jelly and a water-based formula on epidermal barrier function in psoriatic patients. The results showed that the use of emollients can improve epidermal barrier function in psoriatic patients, with TEWL decreased by using Vaseline and SCH increased by using the water-based formula.

Summary: The response of neutrophils to IL-8 is dependent on specific ion channels and transporters, and can be impaired by LPS. This study provides new mechanistic insights into the interaction between IL-8 and neutrophils during systemic inflammation.
