Insectivory leads to functional convergence in a group of Neotropical rodents

Rafaela V. Missagia et al.

Summary: The study shows that the mechanical advantages of the mandible in insectivorous species exhibit convergence, with stronger bite force species having higher mechanical advantages, and weaker bite force species having lower mechanical advantages.

Ecophylogenetics redux

T. Jonathan Davies

Summary: Ecophylogenetics aims to reveal the process of community assembly through phylogenetic methods, but has faced controversies and challenges. Nonetheless, ecophylogenetic methods have made important advances in ecology, helping predict species relationships and guiding conservation and restoration efforts.

Tempo and mode of evolution of oryzomyine rodents (Rodentia, Cricetidae, Sigmodontinae): A phylogenomic approach

Alexandre Reis Percequillo et al.

Summary: The tribe Oryzomyini is a diverse group of rodents with 30 genera and an estimated 147 species. Through a multi-locus dataset obtained through phylogenomics, the study revealed the genome-wide phylogenetic hypothesis for Oryzomyini, with evolutionary events dating back to the Miocese period. The evolutionary history of Oryzomyini is closely linked to the Andean cordillera and the landscape history of the Amazon basin.
