Nanocarriers targeting the diseases of the pancreas

Nurbanu Demirturk et al.

Summary: Pancreatic diseases, including pancreatitis, diabetes and pancreatic cancer, can be challenging to treat due to the properties of the pancreas. Current treatments focus on symptom relief rather than targeting the root cause. Novel nanoparticle delivery systems offer potential for more effective and safer treatment options for pancreatic diseases, including overcoming drug resistance and improving targeting.

Targeted Polymeric Nanoparticles Based on Mangiferin for Enhanced Protection of Pancreatic β-Cells and Type 1 Diabetes Mellitus Efficacy

Mengdi Wang et al.

Summary: This study developed targeted nanoparticles for efficient delivery of Mangiferin (MGF) to the pancreas, resulting in improved accumulation, hypoglycemic effect, and restorative effects on pancreatic islets. Compared to free MGF, the nanoparticles showed enhanced concentration in the pancreas, better blood glucose control, increased insulin levels, and improved pancreatic islet repair.

Neuroprotective Efficacy of Co-Encapsulated Rosiglitazone and Vorinostat Nanoparticle on Streptozotocin Induced Mice Model of Alzheimer Disease

K. C. Sarathlal et al.

Summary: The combination of rosiglitazone and vorinostat loaded onto a nanocarrier system showed enhanced neuroprotective efficacy in attenuating biochemical and cellular alterations associated with Alzheimer's disease. The coencapsulated nanoformulation exerted better therapeutic outcomes in terms of improved behavioral performance, reduced oxidative stress, and increased levels of neurotrophic factors compared to free drug combination treatments. The synergistic effects were increased through the nanocarrier system, leading to improved therapeutic efficacy.

Target Nanoparticles against Pancreatic Cancer: Fewer Side Effects in Therapy

Jorge A. Roacho-Perez et al.

Summary: Pancreatic cancer is the most common lethal tumor in America, with limited treatment options and several side effects. Utilizing targeted nanoparticles as an alternative treatment for pancreatic cancer aims to reduce side effects and improve treatment outcomes by identifying and attacking cancer cells specifically.
