Masoud Kharazan et al.

Summary: The study investigates the nonlinear vibration behavior of a cantilever beam with multiple breathing cracks, with calculations of stiffness, evaluation of damping variation, and simulation of bilinear behavior using a polynomial function. Results show that beams with a higher number of cracks or deeper ones exhibit obvious softening behavior, leading to a more significant jumping in the response.

Numerical investigation of leading edge noise reduction on a rod-airfoil configuration using porous materials and serrations

Christopher Teruna et al.

Summary: A lattice-Boltzmann method was used to study aeroacoustics and aerodynamics of airfoils with different leading edge treatments, finding that porous leading edge reduces noise by decreasing blockage effect, while leading edge serrations promote destructive interference of noise sources along the span. Both treatments have similar effects on broadband noise reduction, but serrations perform better when applied against inflow with tonal characteristic.

The effect of cracks and thermal environment on free vibration of FGM plates

Phuc Pham Minh et al.

Summary: This paper studies the free vibration parameters of cracked functionally graded material plates with nonlinear varying thickness according to a symmetric parabola function under temperature. Formulas were developed based on Shi's third-order shear deformation theory and the phase field theory in destructive mechanics, and the results were compared with existing literature. Various parameters like crack length, crack angle, plate length ratio, temperature, volume fraction index, and boundary conditions were considered in calculating the free vibration frequencies of the plates, along with the effects of plate edges and symmetrical parabolic thickness shapes on the natural frequencies of FGM plates.

Summary: This paper introduces an IGA-RKPM coupling approach to study the buckling behavior of cracked isotropic and orthotropic plate and shell structures. The approach successfully overcomes the barrier of global parameterization, preserves geometry exactness, and offers a higher-order approximation based on IGA basis functions with local refinement flexibility. By comparing results with existing literature, the efficacy and robustness of the proposed coupling approach have been demonstrated.
