Sex differences in outcomes after coronary artery bypass grafting: a pooled analysis of individual patient data

Mario Gaudino et al.

Summary: A systematic review and pooled analysis of high-quality individual patient data from CABG trials found that women have worse outcomes than men in the first 5 years after surgery, with higher rates of cardiac events and repeat revascularization. However, this difference is not significant in patients aged over 75 years and is not affected by the surgical technique.

Angiographic Patency of Coronary Artery Bypass Conduits: A Network Meta-Analysis of Randomized Trials

Mario Gaudino et al.

Summary: This study conducted a network meta-analysis to compare the angiographic patency rates of various conduits used in coronary bypass surgery. The results showed that radial artery and no-touch saphenous vein grafts were associated with significantly lower graft occlusion rates compared to conventionally harvested saphenous vein, with radial artery ranking as the best conduit.

Skeletonized vs Pedicled Internal Mammary Artery Graft Harvesting in Coronary Artery Bypass Surgery A Post Hoc Analysis From the COMPASS Trial

Andre Lamy et al.

Summary: A post hoc analysis of the COMPASS trial found that skeletonized internal mammary artery harvesting during CABG surgery was associated with a higher rate of graft occlusion and worse clinical outcomes compared to the traditional pedicled technique. Future randomized clinical trials are needed to establish the safety and patency of the skeletonized technique.
