Long-Term Follow-up of High-Dose Chemotherapy with Autologous Stem Cell Transplantation in Children and Young Adults with Metastatic or Relapsed Ewing Sarcoma: A Single-Institution Experience

Anna B. Pawlowska et al.

Summary: This study analyzed the outcomes of high-dose chemotherapy and autologous hematopoietic stem cell transplantation in 47 patients with metastatic or recurrent Ewing sarcoma. It was found that the conditioning regimen, disease status at transplant, and time to disease relapse were important prognostic factors. Patients who underwent transplantation in first complete response had the best outcome, while those with late relapse also showed good long-term survival and disease-free survival rates.

Extraskeletal Ewing sarcoma: Diagnosis, management and prognosis

Abdallah Abboud et al.

Summary: Extraskeletal Ewing sarcoma (EES) is a rare primary tumor of soft tissues, following similar treatment protocols as sarcoma tumors. Diagnosis relies on clinical features and imaging, with magnetic resonance imaging as the preferred modality. More research is needed to determine the optimal treatment for EES.

A SEER-based nomogram accurately predicts prognosis in Ewing's sarcoma

Haibo Zhan et al.

Summary: Ewing's sarcoma is a high-grade malignancy that mainly occurs in children and adolescents. This study aimed to identify independent risk factors associated with the prognosis of Ewing's sarcoma and develop a nomogram to predict patient survival. The nomogram, incorporating age, tumor size, primary site, N stage, and M stage, showed higher accuracy in predicting overall survival and cancer-specific survival compared to the traditional TNM staging system.
