Effective adsorption of mercury by Zr(IV)-based metal-organic frameworks of UiO-66-NH2 from aqueous solution

Yufeng Zhao et al.

Summary: The study synthesized Zr-based MOFs UiO-66 and UiO-66-NH2 for mercury removal, with UiO-66-NH2 showing higher adsorption capacity. Salt concentration significantly affected mercury adsorption on UiO-66, while UiO-66-NH2 maintained stable adsorption capacity within a certain range. The adsorption process of mercury on UiO-66-NH2 was found to be spontaneous and endothermic.

Natural and Low-CostP. turgidumfor Efficient Adsorption of Hg(II) Ions from Contaminated Solution: Isotherms and Kinetics Studies

A. Hashem et al.

Summary: The adsorbent prepared from Panicum turgidum roots efficiently removes mercury (II) ions from water, with a maximum adsorption capacity of 333.33 mg/g achieved at 30 degrees C. The adsorption process is promoted by the high density of active sites and is independent of the adsorbent surface area. The experimental data fits best with the Freundlich isotherm and pseudo-first-order model. This indicates that Panicum turgidum is a potential adsorbent for wastewater treatment.

Study of Mercury [Hg(II)] Adsorption from Aqueous Solution on Functionalized Activated Carbon

Oscar D. Caicedo Salcedo et al.

Summary: In this study, activated carbons were functionalized to enhance their adsorption capacity for mercury [Hg(II)] from aqueous solutions. The functionalization process was found to decrease the surface area and pore volume of the activated carbons, while increasing the sulfur content in the carbonaceous matrix and improving the affinity to mercury. The results showed a significant increase in mercury adsorption capacity after functionalization, reaching a maximum adsorption capacity of 85.6 mgHg(2+)g(-1).
