Impact of energy structure on carbon emission and economy of China in the scenario of carbon taxation

Jia Liu et al.

Summary: China, as the world's largest CO2 emitter, aims to achieve the peak of carbon emissions around 2030. Research indicates that implementing a carbon tax policy can help China achieve the win-win goal of reducing carbon emissions and GDP growth, with the recommendation of setting the tax rate at a low level to minimize economic impact.

Gokul Prasad Mathivanan et al.

Summary: A meta-analysis was conducted to determine country-specific and stratified N2O emission factors for direct agricultural emissions in Germany. It was found that northern districts had relatively lower emission factors than southern districts. The national implied emission factor for direct N2O emissions from managed agricultural soils was 0.62%, which is 8.59% lower than the estimate reported in the 2021 inventory submission to UNFCCC.

Exploring the impact of transition in energy mix on the CO2 emissions from China's power generation sector based on IDA and SDA

Yujie Wei et al.

Summary: Through index decomposition analysis (IDA) and structural decomposition analysis (SDA), the study found that thermal power generation efficiency is the key factor in reducing emissions in China's power generation sector. The impact of renewable energy and nuclear energy on emission reduction is becoming more significant over time, with fossil fuel structure being the main contributor to increased CO2 emissions.

Do inward foreign direct investment and economic development improve local environmental quality: aggregation bias puzzle

Munir Ahmad et al.

Summary: This study estimated the inward foreign direct investment (IFDI)-augmented EKCs for China's 27 provincial divisions and found that the links between IFDI and carbon emissions showed an inverse U shape for the aggregate samples, while the provincial divisions presented heterogeneous results. The findings suggested the presence of aggregation bias at the aggregated levels, and highlighted the importance of evaluating EKCs at disaggregate scales for meaningful policy implications.
