Experimental study on heat transfer characteristics of closed thermosyphon at different volumes and inclination angles for variable vacuum pressures

Halit Arat et al.

Summary: This study experimentally investigated the thermal performance of vacuumed copper pipe with different volume values and inclination angles under variable vacuum pressures. The experimental boiling heat transfer coefficients showed good agreement with existing correlations in the literature, and the best thermal resistance was achieved in the vacuumed copper pipe filled with 10 ml of water at a 90-degree inclination angle.

Energy, exergy, enviroeconomic & exergoeconomic (4E) assessment of thermal energy storage assisted solar water heating system: Experimental & theoretical approach

K. Chopra et al.

Summary: The study compared the performance of evacuated tube collectors with and without latent heat storage material, with palmitic acid used as the storage material. The collector with storage showed significant improvements in daily thermal and exergy efficiencies, as well as reduced environmental impact in terms of CO2 emissions compared to the collector without storage. Additionally, the collector with storage generated higher revenues based on energy and exergy approaches.

Concurrent optimization and 4E analysis of organic Rankine cycle power plant driven by parabolic trough collector for low-solar radiation zone

Oguz Arslan et al.

Summary: This study investigated the Organic Rankine Cycle driven by parabolic trough collectors, evaluating six environmentally friendly refrigerants and conducting a dynamic energy and exergy analysis. The system was designed with a combination of solar field, thermal energy storage subsystem, and power block, optimized for 24 hours of operation without external energy sources. The best design was found to be the conventional cycle with a net present value of 9.012 million US$. The system showed reduced emissions of CO2, SO2, and NOx.
