Whole-genome sequencing-based prediction and analysis of antimicrobial resistance in Yersinia enterocolitica from Ningxia, China

Yuan Yue et al.

Summary: This study used whole-genome sequencing to investigate the antimicrobial resistance of Yersinia enterocolitica in Ningxia and identified multiple resistance genotypes. The resistant strains primarily originated from pigs and patients, and the number of multidrug-resistant strains is concerning.

Soil redox dynamics under dynamic hydrologic regimes - A review

Zengyu Zhang et al.

Summary: Electron transfer reactions mediated by soil microbiota significantly impact elemental cycling and redox balance in soil systems. Understanding soil redox processes enhances our ability to characterize biogeochemical cycling and manage soil health. Redox-sensitive species exhibit different properties based on their redox state, underscoring the importance of quantifying redox potential and characterizing dominant redox couples in soils.

Real-time bioluminescent imaging of spatiotemporal variation of microbial retention during transport through porous media under variably saturated flow conditions

Liqiong Yang et al.

Summary: This study utilized a noninvasive, real-time bioluminescent imaging technique to investigate the transport and retention of bioluminescent Escherichia coli strain 652T7 under different pore water velocities and saturations. The results showed that under unsaturated flow conditions, bacterial migration was slow due to modestly unfavorable attachment conditions at interfaces. The non-invasive bioluminescence method provided real-time quantitative observation of bacterial distribution and revealed contrasting transport behaviors previously obtained via more laborious methods.

A review on contaminants of emerging concern in European raptors (2002-2020)

Soledad Gonzalez-Rubio et al.

Summary: Raptors are widely used as indicators of environmental pollution due to their high trophic position and bioaccumulation of persistent pollutants. However, their role in current research on contaminants of emerging concern is limited. More information on the levels and effects of CECs on raptors is urgently needed, along with research covering all major classes of CECs.

Snakes as bimonitors of environmental pollution: A review on organic contaminants

Anh Quoc Hoang et al.

Summary: The concentrations and patterns of organic pollutants in snakes are influenced by various factors, which may have negative effects on snakes and their predators. Studies indicate that snakes can serve as biomonitors of environmental pollution caused by organic contaminants, monitoring organic pollutants effectively.

Mitigation of petroleum-hydrocarbon-contaminated hazardous soils using organic amendments: A review

Son A. Hoang et al.

Summary: This review explores the mechanisms and effects of organic amendments in the enhanced remediation of TPH-contaminated soils, focusing on the importance of increased TPH sorption and desorption for improving soil health and facilitating biodegradation. The uncertainty of mechanisms for various organic amendments in TPH remediation processes remains a critical area for future research.
